HOW YOU CAN HELP
Since its establishment in 1902, St. Augustine School has provided students of the Barberton, Norton, and Akron area with an educational experience centered on Catholicity and academic excellence. Since your time at St. Augustine School, much has changed in Catholic education. While you may have many fond memories of the Dominican Sisters who staffed our school from 1903 until 1996, the mission of educating our children is now carried out by a dedicated staff of lay professionals. And whereas the parishioners of St. Augustine Church provided full financial support of the school for many years and continue to provide a significant portion of the school's funding today, it is now necessary to charge tuition.
St. Augustine School is now the last remaining parochial school in Barberton. We consider the wonderful tradition of educational excellence and the physical facilities gifts of the founding families and take very seriously the privilege and responsibility to preserve this heritage for future generations. As part of a diocese-wide trend and further impacted by local demographics, our parish is challenged by declining church attendance and offertory collections. Although sound fiscal decisions have been and will continue to be made, this situation makes it increasingly more complicated for the parish to maintain its level of support to the school at the current level. At the same time, parents are challenged to meet continually increasing tuition obligations. As a result, fundraising has become an essential form of funding for our school and it is necessary to ask for your continual prayers as well as your time, talent, and treasure in preserving St. Augustine School for future generations. If your financial circumstances permit, a direct monetary contribution to St. Augustine School will help us to continue to provide Catholic education to future generations.
